Brighton burnt out pier taken from the pier still standing.
I first encountered the West Pier while studying architectural history, and the work of architect Eugenius Birch. This was about the time of the 2003 fires.

As an architectural historian, I lament the loss of this structure but truly appreciate the haunting beauty of its ruin. This is a well-made shot, and the range of focus is what really hammers in the place and feeling.
