@Gerald Cafferty I have to ask. Just exactly what is he doing?
Hi Papa. He's a jolly looking fellow who should maybe think of considering a career change. It was taken in Lichfield Cathedral (one of my favourite subjects). There is a daily 12.30 service and it is someone's job to ring the call to prayer.
I now see the plain white rope above the twisty puller. I am sure that there is some technical name for the puller, the rope itself, and the whole mechanism.
However, I have been into the Macallan's and have lost interest in looking it up. The priest doesn't look particularly interested either. Perhaps he would benefit from a Macallan cure...

I think the rope the bellringer pulls is called a sallie.
