Out driving around for subjects, I came upon this unexpected and curious scene! My first thought was that this was an inane waste of time--but soon discovered the reasoning. These gravel bars in the Cohocton River are regularly mowed so as to make higher waters flow over them easier, and reduce the deposit of snags or log dams in the stream. Flood control, who would have thunk it?
