The Knife Angel a monument to all the people affected by knife crime. A statue made from knives seized or handed in to remove blades from circulation, it is currently touring the UK.

It is not the knife, it is the criminal. I've carried a knife, boy and man more that 70 years and never harmed a soul. A legion of us with the same behavior. Easy to go after an object, hard to pursue and punish criminals.

Guess you could look at it like Photography...is it the camera that takes the picture or the photographer?

“The National Monument Against Violence and Agression” …. could have been made with any object that is used in an act of violence.
Obviously it is not the knife or the object used that perpetrates the violence, people do.
Of course This artwork is not about the utilitarian use of the knife. Aside from the knives that were actually used in violence …the people who voluntarily surrendered their knifes probably understand that fact.

Then the sculpture doesn't apply to you or the knives you've carried except as it may stimulate your empathy for the victims of violence by those using their knives as weapons.

It is not the knife, it is the criminal.

Next time a two-year-old burns their hand on a hot stove, tell them the stove is just an inanimate object that really meant them no harm. Or better yet, give him a knife and tell him it's not dangerous.
