Paying attention to small details can make the difference between a good photograph and a great one. Having others analyze our images in a constructive way is key to improving technique & presentation. This is the role of critique. This group aims to provide a venue for that by:
  • Providing critiques for photographs as a place to start conversations and build relationships as a community.
  • Providing feedback that helps the person who critiques learn more when they analyze photos and ask questions.
  • Learning from other photographers' critiques; gaining knowledge & ideas from them which leads to improving our own photography skills.
Photo critiques should be balanced – some core truths weighed out along with praise and encouragement. Understanding the photographer’s skill level, camera kit, and vision is also an important perspective. The point of critique is to get to know the vision of the photographer, how they have applied that to the submitted image, and constructively comment on the elements and tone of the image.

Here are a few links that explain the 'art' of critique and illustrate how to give better critiques to other photographers--as well as to inform the critique review recipient in ways to interpret constructive critique.
